B&C Morning Show: Say Hello To The NFL And Goodbye To Carlos Beltran
With the NFL and the NFLPA close to a resolution and an end to all of this lockout nonsense, Boomer & Craig opened up today's "Morning Experience" talking a little football.
From there they moved onto the Yankees, who got a 2nd inning , 2-run home run courtesy of Curtis Granderson (his 26th long-ball of the season) - and cruised to a 4-0 victory over the Rays. Freddy Garcia scattered 8 hits in his 6 2/3 innings, but did not yield a run and improved to 8-7 with a 3.21 ERA. The 4-game set in Tampa will conclude tonight in Tampa Bay where the Bombers will send the hefty-lefty CC Sabathia to the mound.
The Mets overcame a 4-0 deficit to beat the Redbirds 6-5 in 10 innings, thanks to Angel Pagan's game winning blast. The Mets are currently 7 1/2 games out of the Wild Card but Craig has no illusions about this team - nope - in fact he declared today as the end of an era in Mets history. He was talking about this afternoon's game at Citi Field (12:10 start) where the Mets will be looking to complete the sweep of the Cards and according to Craig, will be the last home game for Carlos Beltran at Citi Field.
With a 10-game road trip that won't see the Mets play at home until 8/1 (which coincidentally is the day after the MLB trading deadline), Craig is certain that Sandy Alderson will deal the outfielder - hence the 'end of an era' declaration...
