Police: Driver Who Hit, Killed 13-Year-Old Brooklyn Girl Was Stabbed
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — A tragedy on a Brooklyn street leaves two people dead, including a 13-year-old girl who was killed right in front of her home.
Keshia Riedewald can hardly process the horrific accident that happened late Saturday night. “I’m shocked, I’m crying,” she said. “I can’t stop.”

Police say an SUV was heading west on Pacific Street near Saratoga Avenue when it struck three parked cars, backed into another car and then flipped over, landing on top of 13-year-old girl Kirra Goddard.
“Everybody was falling on the floor,” said neighbor Maggie Levant. “My granddaughter fell on the floor, my daughter was screaming, it was very emotional.”
Sean Lewis, the 44-year-old driver, died at Brookdale Hospital. It was there that doctors discovered he had been stabbed in the torso just before the accident.
It’s unclear if he died from the stabbing or from injuries suffered in the crash. It’s also unknown where he was going when he rammed into the cars.
The girl, known as little Kirra in the neighborhood, was supposed to go to the movies Saturday night with Riedewald. She got a text message that said Kirra was dead.
“So I’m like Kirra passed away, no that’s not true. I just spoke to her not too long ago, she was outside, we were going to go to the movies,” said Riedewald. “And I came and see this and I’m like how did this happen.”
Kirra’s mother Joyce Lovelady, said the 13-year-old yelled for her sisters and her friends to get out of the way of the car careening down the street, but she couldn’t escape in time. Lovelady said her daughter died a hero.
“She didn’t have the chance to move. It was so fast, it was sudden. She tried to run but it was too late,” Lovelady said. “But her friends got out of the way, there were about six or seven lives she saved.”
“She was my angel, it’s sad,” said Riedewald. “I loved her dearly.”
Lewis’ exact cause of death will be determined by a medical examiner.
