NEW CITY, NY (WCBS 880) - It’s game day for the girls of the New City softball team, who are taking to the field for their first game in the Little League World Series in Portland, Oregon.

Outfielder Madison Borenkoff, 13, has a message for those out west.

“Watch out because we’re here to win,” she says.

The softball team is made up of girls mostly between 11 and 12-years-old.

Borenkoff says the league is fun and that the girls are have become like sisters.

“The adrenaline and having all your friends on the team, getting hyped up for the game, the cheers, winning,” she says. “We all have each other’s backs, and we pick each other up if we lose.”

In today’s game, the girls will be facing Lombardia LL from Milan, Italy. It starts at 5:00 p.m. eastern time.
