Damien McGuinness, a 22-year-old bartender from Ireland, has been arraigned and is being held on $5,000 bail on a charge of rape.
He is accused of attacking a young woman who was visiting from out of state.
Prosecutors say the two met in a bar. She invited him and his friend, Brian Duddy, back to the apartment where she was staying near Columbia University.
According to prosecutors, the woman engaged in a consensual relationship with the friend, but then was allegedly raped by McGuinness.
The woman reported the crime so quickly that cops spotted the two men on the subway and arrested McGuinness on the spot.
