NEW YORK (WFAN/AP) — Veteran safety Deon Grant has re-signed with the Giants.
And he’s ready to take on the Eagles’ “Dream Team.”
The 32-year-old who started eight games last year in his first season with New York was back at training camp on Tuesday after getting a call from the team the day before.
Grant, who became a free agent after last season, says other teams called his agent in recent weeks. But he felt that he would return to the Giants at some point. He added he feels he has some unfinished business after the team missed the playoffs with a 10-6 record.
“I felt like I started something here last year and we didn’t finish it,” he said. “And then with all the things going on in Philly right now, that is a team that I’d love to face. I’m a competitive guy. With them making all the additions that they made, I want to be on the other side of the ball to go against that.”
Grant finished with 68 tackles, three interceptions, two forced fumbles and three recoveries. His presence allowed the Giants to three safeties on the field in some situations.
“I knew this is where I wanted to be,” said Grant. “There were a lot of situations, I was turning them down. And the Giants gave me that phone call.”
Good move by the Giants? Sound off below…
