Gotham Gossipist: Could Sex And The City Be Making A Comeback?

By Kimberly Rae Miller

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The ladies of Sex and the City just might be back - and younger than ever.

The UK's Daily Mail is reporting that Darren Star, the original creator of the series, is joining Sarah Jessica Parker to create the series' prequel version.  Sarah Jessica Parker, will hand over the role of Carrie to work behind the scenes as a producer for this version.  Instead, Olsen twin little-sister, Elizabeth Olsen is being scoped to play a younger Carrie.

Other potential replacements include Blake Lively as Samantha, Selena Gomez for Charlotte, and Emma Roberts as Miranda.

This new series may have been inspired by original SATC author, Candace Bushnell's recent venture into young adult fiction with "The Carrie Diaries," a look into the life of a 16-year-old Carrie Bradshaw.

The impending series may put the brakes on a third 'Sex and the City' movie.  While the original cast signed on for a third round, their second movie was met with poor reviews.

What do we think, is there really room for another SATC?
