It has been very difficult for her grandson, Vincent Longo.

"It's hard to believe that someone would desecrate her body the way they did and treat it with such disrespect," he says.

Police are still actively investigating this case.

There is a $35,000 reward for information leading to an arrest, but that reward is expected to increase within the next few days.

"We would hope that someone would understand what we're going through and feel for us and may want to pick up the phone and call the police to give them some information," he says. "We always had hopes that we would find her remains and that it would come a better conclusion than it has."

Longo said his "Nonna" was a "typical little Italian grandmother" who was a hard worker.
