NEW YORK (AP) — Former Jets nose tackle Kris Jenkins has been hired by SportsNet New York as an NFL analyst, and will appear on several of the cable network’s programs including “Jets Game Plan,” ”SportsNite,” ”Jets Extra Point” and “Jets Post Game Live.”

Jenkins, one of the game’s most personable and colorful characters during his 10-year NFL career with Carolina and New York, retired during the offseason after his last two seasons with the Jets were cut short by serious knee injuries. He says New York “has been great to me and I look forward to remaining close to the game that I love.”

Curt Gowdy Jr., SNY’s executive producer and senior vice president of production, says the network expects “his candor and objective opinions to further enhance our programming.”
