WEST MILFORD, N.J. (CBSNewYork) – Police say a 15-year-old boy was hit by a school bus Friday morning in West Milford.

The bus was packed with kids when the boy was hit on the incident happened on Macopin Road just north of West Brook road.

The fog was so thick, neighbors said it limited visbility to 100 yards when the teen was struck, 1010 WINS’ Al Jones reported.

The fog also prevented a medevac helicopter from responding and the ambulance dispatched to transport the teen got into a fender bender with another car.

It’s unclear if the boy was trying to catch his bus. The high school sophomore is currently at Morristown Medical Center in serious, but stable condition.

“Just to hear that, it breaks my heart.  I just pray he’s okay,” one resident who lives near the scene of the accident told Jones.

The bus driver was also injured and was taken to the hospital to be treated for chest pains. Police say none of the children on the bus were injured.

There were also no injuries reported in the wreck between the ambulance and the car.
