"Ryan" from New Jersey came as a Ghostbuster, complete with proton pack.

"I'm just here to see the sights, see my fellow nerds, check out the cool costumes, check out the video games and comics," he told 1010 WINS' Sonia Rincon.

Movies, television shows and games all about fantasy worlds are featured and discussed.

"Aaron," who is a producer, said the convention stays true to its original purpose.

"San Diego's great, but you get ... there's something about the New York Comic Con that's still about the comic book lover and that hasn't gone away," he said, referring to the Comic-Con International, which takes place in California.

About 10,000 people are expected to attend the weekend convention.
