Fans Excited About New York ‘Comic Con’ At The Javits Center

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Holy geek fest Batman!

New York’s “Comic Con” show opened Thursday at the Jacob K. Javits Center and fans were excited about the convention, which features zombies, superheroes, villains, aliens and, of course, Chewbaccas.

1010 WINS’ Sonia Rincon Reports

“Ryan” from New Jersey came as a Ghostbuster, complete with proton pack.

“I’m just here to see the sights, see my fellow nerds, check out the cool costumes, check out the video games and comics,” he told 1010 WINS’ Sonia Rincon.

Movies, television shows and games all about fantasy worlds are featured and discussed.

“Aaron,” who is a producer, said the convention stays true to its original purpose.

“San Diego’s great, but you get … there’s something about the New York Comic Con that’s still about the comic book lover and that hasn’t gone away,” he said, referring to the Comic-Con International, which takes place in California.

About 10,000 people are expected to attend the weekend convention.

Uh, 10,000? Last year the NYCC drew nearly 94,000 over a 3 day weekend! But yes, it’s always a blast and this year’s bigger than ever. Thanks for coverage without sniping at ‘nerds’ and ‘geeks.’

Applause applause to DJ Z-Trip who set it off in NYCC style – hot! Great start, hanging around for the weekend.
