Police Release Names In Deadly Workplace Shooting

MOUNTAIN LAKES, N.J. (CBS 2) – Police have released the names of the man they say shot his coworker at a business complex in Mountain Lakes on Friday.

Authorities accused Leonardo Parera of killing Christine King inside the Exit Realty Gold Service office in Morris County where both had been working.

Parera shot King while she was sitting on her desk, investigators said, before calling 911 and warning dispatchers that he would escalate the situation if anyone approached him.

"The officers attempted to engage the individual, the suspect, and to place him into custody," Morris County Prosecutor Robert Bianchi said. "He fired shots at the police. The police returned fire, and he was killed."

Investigators still do not know a motive for the shooting and they are trying to determine what kind of relationship, if any, Parera had with King.
