Gov. Christie Rallies Base For Next Week's Election

TRENTON, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is rallying Republicans days before Tuesday's election.

Christie held a 20-minute conference call with candidates and party activists Wednesday night. Christie urged them to work hard for state, county and local candidates in the final days of the campaign.

Don't be surprised to get a call from Christie. The governor says he recorded robo-calls for 35 candidates.

Christie and Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno plan to campaign through Monday.

Christie says he's hoping for GOP gains in Bergen County as well as south Jersey.

No governor in a half-century, except Democrat Jim McGreevey, has gained seats in the Legislature in midterm elections.

Democrats control both houses.
