PATERSON, N.J. (CBSNewYork) — A New Jersey natural wonder is now a national historic park.

The nation’s interior secretary joined top New Jersey officials Monday to dedicate the Paterson Great Falls as America’s 397th national park.

The 77-foot waterfall – which played a key role in the Industrial Revolution – is the largest on the East Coast after Niagara.

The designation makes the site eligible for federal funds.
