That milestone - 500,000 pounds of supplies!

"Every month, except for December - we send out our holiday boxes in November and then we resume again in January," said Dorine Kenney, the Gold Star mom who launched the program.

She named it after her son Jacob Fletcher, who was killed in action in Iraq eight years ago.

"We have a lot of troops in Afghanistan. We can't forget about them. They're out there. Some are living in the dirt. They have it really rough. And those are the troops that we try to reach," she told WCBS 880 Long Island Bureau Chief Mike Xirinachs.

"It's an ongoing program. We're always sending supplies. They just need continued support until they all come home."

She says until then Jacob's Light will continue to shine.
