State records show that Dr. Eric Jacobson prescribed thousands of painkillers to David Laffer and his wife Melinda Brady in the months before Laffer killed four people at a Medford pharmacy.
Now, Newsday reports even though Jacobson surrendered his license to prescribe pain pills during the DEA raid of his Great Neck office on Dec. 1, he’s now had a change of heart.
Jacobson has re-applied for the license and the process to approve or deny the application could take months.
Through his lawyer, the doctor said there are many clients with severe pain problems who have no where else to go.
A report found Laffer and Brady got nearly 12,000 pills in a four-year period by “doctor shopping” before they turned to murder and robbery.
Laffer, 33, was sentenced to five consecutive life terms for the deaths of each of the victims plus an umbrella charge for multiple murders.
