City Council Discussing Proposed Concealed Carry Federal Legislation

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — New York has one of the strongest concealed weapons laws in the country, but a proposed federal law would allow those with concealed permits in one state to travel with their guns to another.

LISTEN: 1010 WINS’ Gary Baumgarten reports

Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. says many guns used in crimes in New York City come from other states.

“A vast majority of guns coming into New York City are coming in from out-of-state,” he said. “As to whether each of them was illegally sold or not, I can’t answer.”

Vance says people who need guns for protection in Florida don’t necessarily need them in New York City.

But proponents of the law say it’s rare that a gun legally carried is used in a crime.

Vance said should the law pass, he’ll work closely with the city on a challenge.

I completely support the right of lawful Americans keeping (owning) and bearing (carrying) arms. The right extends to Americans in Florida, Wyoming, New York, and any other state.

The second amendment is now incorporated against the states and municipal governments. It doesn’t matter what New York city council wants on this issue. It’s settled.

    Hey NRA:
Most New Yorkers see right through your stupid drivel.

Hopefully there are still enough people in Washington with “spines” that might stop you from crafting STUPID LEGISLATION with impunity.

    1. The Facts says:

How do you know what most New Yorkers think about this issue? I, for one, beg to differ.

        Don’t worry. He’s a fascist LIB T A R D. He’ll TELL you what to think.

  4. JOSH SUCKS says:

What civil rights violations are you referring to?

  5. goingbust says:

Challange away. Supremacy clause, much? Do you really think the Supreme Court is going to kowtow to NYC just to allow NYC to continue to commit civil rights violations? Not likely.

    1. KPMc says:

      civil rights?

      Do you mean constitutional rights?

If you can’t even get that right it’s kind of hard to hear any of your argument.

The right to bear arms doesn’t mean it is unlimited.

      1. KPMc says:

Only you gung-ho p ussies are worried about carrying concealed weapons in a city of 8 million people.

Not man enough to ride the subway without a weapon? WUSS!

Man up… and leave the guns at home.
