Confidence No Issue For Rolle, Giants As Falcons Loom
NEW YORK (WFAN/AP) — New York captured the NFC East by beating the Jets and Dallas Cowboys in the final two games of the regular season.
Couple that with last-second losses to top NFC seed Green Bay and No. 2 seed San Francisco during the season, and that confidence is back as the Giants prepare for a wild-card game against the Atlanta Falcons (10-6) at MetLife Stadium on Sunday.
“You have played the best teams and you know how you stack up against them,” said defensive end Justin Tuck, according to the New York Daily News. “You have taken guys’ best shots.”
What has to be encouraging for the Giants is the way that the defense has stepped up.
After watching Eli Manning and the offense carry the team most of the season, the ‘D’ has contributed big time.
“I stayed confident in our group,” Antrel Rolle, who week after week predicted the team’s playoff berth, told WFAN’s Joe Benigno and Evan Roberts Tuesday. “I stayed confident in our approach.”

Manning also is having a career year. He threw for a team-record 4,933 yards, 29 touchdowns and 16 interceptions. Second-year receiver Victor Cruz finished with a franchise-record 1,536 yards receiving and a team-high nine touchdowns, including five of 68 yards or longer.
Tuck and Rolle believe the Giants have a chance to play for a championship.
“We’re capable of winning the Super Bowl,” Tuck said after the Giants beat Dallas — and earned their way into the playoffs.
“We’re all in,” Rolle told Benigno and Roberts. “We’re all on deck, and we’re going to make a run at this thing.”
