Public health is the reason Sands Point officials say they passed a new law limiting the number of dogs residents can own to seven.

Eddie Ajamia is a pet owner who agrees with the new measure.

"I think dogs would probably be happy with a family of two or three dogs at the most, our ability to give attention. I mean, you have so many children, you can only give so much attention. I think it's a similar thing," he said Monday.

Ajamia believes the new law is good for both man and animal.

Under the new rule, anyone wanting more than seven dogs, would have to prove they have the means to properly care for them.
