If someone parked illegally, like in a cross walk, code enforcement officers would be notified on their cell phones.
But in many cases, by the time the officers got there the driver had already left.
In fact, Mayor James Altadonna told WCBS 880 reporter Sophia Hall that the average time for someone parking illegally was under three minutes.
He now says the sensors are not the best plan for the village.
“We want to be business friendly. Although there are infractions, I think that the sensors have actually educated some of the residents as to where they can and can’t park,” he said Friday.
