NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Police are looking for the husband of a woman found dead in her Astoria home.

Tara Hawes, a 33-year-old special needs teacher, was found unconscious and unresponsive when authorities responded to the scene.  Police said they responded to a 911 call at 26-80 30th St., at around 10:30 p.m. Thursday night.

The Medical Examiner has determined that Hawes did not have her throat slashed, as was earlier believed by police.

Instead the M.E. said Hawes sustained blunt force trauma to her head.  Hawes was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are now looking to question the victim’s husband, 32-year-old Jordan Hawes.

Jordan Hawes is described as 5-foot-9 and about 150 pounds.  He could possible be driving a grey Jeep Liberty with New York license plate FEX7781.

Authorities also released a surveillance image of Hawes when he was using the victim’s ATM card on the morning of Jan. 31, police said.

Anyone with information in regards to this homicide or the location of Jordan Hawes is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS.

The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers Website at WWW.NYPDCRIMESTOPPERS.COM or texting their tips to 274637(CRIMES) then enter TIP577.
