Report: Giants Briefly Declare Super Bowl Victory On Their Website

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — The Big Game is still a day away but it looks like the Giants may have jumped the gun a bit this morning by accidentally putting an ad on their website for Super Bowl Championship merchandise.

According to the site FanIQ.com, visitors to the Giants website this morning were apparently greeted with “The Giants are Super Bowl Champions!” at the top of the page with Championship gear for sale below.

It was only up for a little while before someone seemed to notice and pulled it down, but it was up long enough for Twitter to get a hold of and pictures of the web page are now all over the internet.

If you try to see the page now, you’ll be redirected to the Giants homepage after getting a “Page Not Found” error.

Many fans expressed via Twitter and Facebook that they were worried the Giants were jinxing the game by declaring victory too soon.

What do you think? Sound off below in our comments section…

They jinx themselves just by going to Indy! Goodnight Irene, or should I say, Eli🙂

      You were saying???

  2. I don’t think it has anything to do with them claiming victory. Web Designers frequently test out new pages & api’s constantly to make sure that they will work when online. If anything, the G-men are keeping a low profile.

Yeah… but they all have beta versions the rest of don’t see without special access. Someone is supposed to test it there if necessary. Someone could be in trouble for that. I hope not too severely. It’s probably a careless but honest mistake.
