Jerry Recco began his update with the news that Gary Carter had passed away at the age of 57. He also played some reaction after the news of his death from the likes of Bud Harrelson, Ron Darling, Wally Backman, Davey Johnson and Tom Seaver.
Carter was an 11-time All-Star catcher, who hit 324 career home runs and knocked in 1225 RBIs. He spent 5 of his 19 seasons with the Mets, of course helping lead the Amazins’ to the World Series title in 1986. He was inducted in the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2003.
