B&C Morning Show: Remembering Gary Carter Fondly, 'Linsanity' Marches On

Boomer & Craig opened up today's show on a somber note after the passing of Gary Carter at the age of 57 of brain cancer.  Carter of course was the catalyst for the 1986 Amazin' Mets that beat the Red Sox in the World Series.

The guys reflected on Carter's life both on and off the field.

Craig got things started by reading the emotional message posted yesterday by Carter's daughter Kimmy Bloemers, announcing that her father had died.

From there the guys fondly remembered Carter's heroics during the '86 season and his never say quit attitude.  They eventually summed things up by saying that regardless of who you root for, one had to like Gary Carter.

Then it was back to the 'LINsanity' as the Knicks may have Carmelo Anthony back for tonight's tilt against the New Orleans Hornets at the Garden. Craig was also thrilled to have received a package from the folks over NBAstore.com containing a plethora of personalized Jeremy Lin shirts to give away.

We also hear the Knickerbockers are close to signing free-agent J.R. Smith, after he played out his contract with the Zhejiang Golden Bulls of the Chinese Basketball Association.  Craig sees it as a good fit, while Boomer wasn't so sure.

One thing the Booms was sure about, was that last night at the Garden sucked, as he on hand at the Garden to see his beloved Rangers take one on the chin - losing 4-2 to the Blackhawks.

So it was a bit of an emotional roller-coaster to open-up today's program as the Dynamic Radio Duo dealt with a myriad topics to get things started...
