WATCH: Mets Johan Santana Throws Off Mound Again

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (WFAN/AP) — Johan Santana threw off a mound Friday for the first time after a 4½-month break as he tries to make it back to the major leagues for the New York Mets' opener in April.

Tuesday he did it again.

WFAN's Ed Coleman reports that manager Terry Collins and pitching coach Dan Warthen looked on as Santana played long toss then threw 29 official pitches, plus warmups. Josh Thole was catching.

Pitchers and catchers start drills Wednesday.
