NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – Where does the 139th richest woman in America rest her head when she visits New York?

A $7.9 million dollar Midtown apartment in the exclusive residential tower Place 57.  According to real estate blog Zillow, the apartment is owned by Oprah and/or Gayle King.  Celebrities often buy their real estate with a whole lot of legal hullabaloo intended to keep their names off the lease directly–thus the original thought that the  2,530 square foot property, with a 768-square-foot terrace, 3-bedrooms, and  3.5-bath might belong to Ms. King.

Now that the property is on the market, it’s starting to look more and more like Lady O was the property’s real owner.

That doesn’t mean she ever slept there. The apartment, purchased in 2008 for $7.1 million, may have been vacant all this time.

Now it can be yours.  Zillow did the math, and with 20 percent down payment, and a 30 year mortgage this piece of prime NYC property  would cost you a measly $29,115 a month in mortgage payments.

Of course, that doesn’t include maintenance fees, taxes, or utilities.

As it turns out Oprah has so much property she can’t live in it all.  Winfrey owns an estate in Montecito, CA., a plantation in Hawaii, a duplex in downtown Chicago and houses and condos in Douglasville, GA., Franklin, TN. and Elmwood Park, Ill. She probably just forgot she owned an apartment in New York City.

“Where does the 139th richest woman in America rest her head when she visits New York?”

There are NOT 138 other American women with more money than Oprah. Whoever complied this article has a problem with reading comprehension.

The listing is of Forbes 400: Richest Americans (regardless of gender) and she is at 139 overall.

A quick tally shows that Oprah appears to be tied for 18th among women on that list.
