Bloomberg: Surveillance Complaints From NJ ‘Ridiculous’

NEW YORK (CBSNewyork/AP) — Mayor Michael Bloomberg says New Jersey officials’ complaints about NYPD surveillance of Muslim groups are “ridiculous.”

He was responding to criticism from New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and Newark Mayor Cory Booker over the NYPD’s tactics.

Bloomberg said Friday on his weekly appearance on WOR Radio that it’s “a bit ridiculous” to say “the NYPD should stop at the border.”

“The truth of the matter is what we’ve been doing in New Jersey is what anybody in this country, in the world can do. You can go to open meetings, you can go on open websites and look and see what’s there and that’s really all we’ve been doing,” he said. “We have a responsibility to do that and we share the information with New Jersey.”

Bloomberg went on to say that the NYPD is “recognized by all professionals as the finest police department in the world.”

May be NYPD wants to open a precinct in New Jersey to be exactly in Newark, the crime capital of New Jersey. The NYPD has a precinct in Santo Domingo(D.R.)a brach of the 34th located in Washington Hts.Next, the NYPD will open a precinct in China.

The one constituent base that Bloomberg seems oblivious to is moms of college students. No mother wants to send her kids to college to only find out that they’ve been spied on…by an untouchable police force. Hey, it’s just Muslim-Americans you say? Well what if your kid is dating someone who belongs to one of those student groups and gets invited along on that rafting trip and happens to make an innocent remark ala Call of Duty games. Yeah, that’s my thought process. Used to live in NYC. Won’t be sending my kids to any of those colleges until NYPD reigns itself in and thinks a little more smartly about where the real risks are. Kelly is an ex-Marine. Understands systems and process. Not people. Oh, and you know that Rutgers webcam case on trial? Seems hard to prosecute that case when authorities are doing something similar.

Gee, that’s exactly Hitler and Stalin said when his secret police didn’t stop at the borders either.

I am tired of listening to Newark’s Mayor and how violated he feels. The way I see it, maybe he should employ NYPD full time to help stop the what seems to me to be neverending bloodshed in Newark. His cops don’t seem to be up to the job. Let the NYPD do whatever they have to do to keep us all safe. God Bless you all!

I can’t stand this pint-sized demigod- but he is correct.

If anyone can legally go inside, so can the cops from anywhere. Why not?

If we can sent the our cops to Israel, we can give them PATH fare too.
