WFAN.com’s Rich Coutinho sat down this morning in Port. St. Lucie with Andres Torres, the new Mets centerfielder and likely lead-off hitter on Opening Day. Highlights of that conversation include:
- Torres feels the Met lineup will score plenty of runs and be a very good offense.
- He has spoken to some of the younger players that championships are never won on expectations and points to his 2010 Giant team as a fine example of that
- Torres understands that defense is a big part of his game and playing at Citi Field will be a challenge but one he relishes.
- He really respects Terry Collins and his passion for the game–loves the fact he checks in with all of his players on a daily basis.
