OYSTER BAY, NY (CBSNewYork) – The body of war correspondent and native Long Islander Marie Colvin is due home today.

The-56-year-old from Oyster Bay was killed last month along with a French photographer while covering the violence in the Syrian city of Homs.

Her body was turned over to embassy officials in Syria on Saturday.
