Brooklyn Rape Suspects Caught On Camera

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Police are hunting for two men accused of raping a woman in Brooklyn’s Marine Park.

“It’s scary because it could be anyone. It’s not like it’s in the middle of the night. It’s a work day in the middle of the week. There are people walking around. There were people all around and they just went into the store,” said resident Leba Cohen.

Cohen works down the street from the First Class Auto Leasing and Sales office on Nostrand Avenue where, police said, the 60-year-old woman was attacked.

1010 WINS’ John Montone reports

Police said the victim was alone in the leasing office when two men knocked on the door, asking for the owner. Investigators said the woman let the men in.

Security cameras were rolling as the suspects pulled the woman to a back room and allegedly sexually assaulted her.

Alex Rudenko works right next door and said Tuesday, like every morning, he and his boss helped the ailing woman unlock her office security gate. He said he couldn’t believe he didn’t notice any commotion.

“We not hear it. We not seeing nobody,” he told CBS 2’s Hazel Sanchez. “It’s shocking! All the time our doors open all day. I don’t know. It can happen with anybody.”

“They’re very brazen. Very bold. It’s really. It’s horrible,” added Avi Norensberg, a teacher next-door at Yeshiva Ahavas Torah. “That it happens right next to where kids are is especially frustrating and scary.”

He said he thinks it’s possible students or teachers could have seen the alleged attackers as they ran off. Police are looking through video from surveillance cameras in the neighborhood that caught the suspects on the move.

The victim was treated at Kings County Hospital.

  • not a lawyer...thank god

I could drop a can of paint on a white piece of paper and have a better picture of the men than those cameras caught. Today’s technology and thats the best the cameras can do? What a joke.

Perhaps, just perhaps publishing a description might, in some small way, actually aid in their capture and maybe even warn and protect others? just a thought.

Criminals would not be so brazen is law abiding citizens were allowed to protect themselves and get concealed weapons permits. Right now the only civilians who have guns are the criminals and they have nothing to fear because they know that other civilians are helpless sheep.

This seams like a new method of operating. Instead of stealing cars which requires some skill, thieves turn to carjackings. Instead of casing homes and businesses, criminals find it easier to do home invasions. Instead of raping a woman on the street. It is easier to pick one that is isolated in a place of business and do the vile act there. Police will do a good job looking at video and finding the rapists after the fact. Then the justice system will slap them on the wrist and let them go. When will New Yorkers realize that they need to defend themselves and stand up for their civil rights that NYC stripped away from them. Current NYC policy sees this woman as an acceptable casualty but I am sure this woman and her family see it differently.

    OK, show their picture then.

Video shows the images. 2 colored unsurprisingly. And who rapes a 60 year old woman? Yuk.
