New Yorkers Flock To H&M Stores To Get Their Hands On New Marni Collection

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Affordable retail store, H&M, unveiled its first collection with the high-end Italian fashion house, Marni, at six stores in Manhattan Thursday morning.

The chic spring collection features items selected by Marni’s creative director and founder, Consuelo Castiglioni.

“I wanted to create a true Marni wardrobe by revisiting all our favorite pieces in signature fabrics and prints,” Castiglioni said. “As always, I love juxtaposing prints and colors, mixing modern tribal with Bauhaus graphic and adding sporty utilitarian element.”

The Fifth Avenue store implemented a system to meet the demand and avoid chaos, including color-coded time slots, a limit of 30 shoppers at a time, and a 15-minute time limit.

The collection features loose dresses, full pleated skirts, shirts and tops featuring bold prints and pops of color as well as structured summer coats and jackets for women.

Fabrics range from silk to crisp cotton poplin.

For men, there are striped cashmere sweaters, spring-ready suits and bright, playful printed button-up shirts.

According to the H&M website, the color palette is “pragmatic with unexpected ruptures.”

The women’s collection consists of black, dark gray, navy blue, olive fatigue green and khaki with flashes of rust, orange and gold.

For men, black, deep blue and khaki are accented with peaks of light or electric blue, orange and crimson red.

The collection also comes with an assortment of accessories ranging from chunky bracelets to straw hats to scarves.
