NEW YORK (WCBS 880) - A newspaper photo features accused Upper East Side madam Anna Gristina perched on the lap of a smiling bodyguard. Her arm is draped over his broad shoulders, WCBS 880’s Irene Cornell reports.

It turns out the madam’s bodyguard was a New York City detective, Selwyn “Sly” Francis, and at the time the photo was taken, he was assigned to the Manhattan district attorney’s office – the very office that is now prosecuting the million dollar madam and keeping her locked up on high bail, Cornell reports.

The now retired detective saw the photo and posted a message on his Facebook page, “Nice photo of me from back in the day,” Cornell reported.

The DA’s office declined to comment.

Gristina is being held at Rikers Island on charges of running a high-priced prostitution ring out of an apartment at 304 East 78th Street in Manhattan.
