The driver hit the windshield, according to witnesses and the passenger was taken to the hospital after slamming against the partition. The pedestrian was rushed to Bellevue Hospital in serious but stable condition.
“He had hit his head through the glass — he was bleeding everywhere,” one witness said, describing the driver.
The crash happened just as many office workers were spilling out of their buildings for lunch, WCBS 880’s Marla Diamond reported. Witnesses said the cabbie appeared to be speeding and one man marveled that only one person was struck.
“It was lunchtime — it’s always crowded out here…lot of other people jumped out the way though,” that witness said.
