Bears’ Brandon Marshall Accused Of Punching Woman Outside NYC’s Marquee Nightclub

NEW YORK (WFAN/AP) — Wide receiver Brandon Marshall is back in the news.

And no, not for his recent trade to the Chicago Bears.

New York City police say a woman has accused the NFL star of punching her in the face at a nightclub.

The woman alleges the incident occurred at 3:50 a.m. Sunday outside the Marquee, a nightclub in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood.

Police are investigating a complaint she filed Monday evening. He has not been charged.

“Brandon Marshall was the key note speaker at a charitable event in New York. After the event was over he, his wife and close friends attended a function at a local club,” Marshall’s attorney, Harvey Steinberg, said in a statement through Jay Glazer of Fox Sports. “While at the function a fight broke out NOT involving Mr. Marshall or his friends.”

“While attempting to leave to avoid the melee, Mrs. Marshall was struck in the face by a thrown bottle,” he added. “She suffered serious injury. While attempting to leave and take his wife to the hospital, the mayhem continued outside. Finally Mr. Marshall was able to take his wife to the hospital where she was treated for serious injuries. Mr. Marshall is hoping to assist authorities in regards to this matter.”

Chicago acquired Marshall from the Miami Dolphins on Tuesday.

“Both the Bears and Dolphins were aware of what occurred over the weekend,” Bears general manager Phil Emery said in a statement Wednesday. “We decided to move forward with the trade. We have high expectations for Brandon as a Bear.”

Last year, Marshall’s wife was arrested after he was stabbed in the abdomen during a domestic dispute. Charges were later dropped.

Marshall was involved in a 2007 fight in Denver that led to the drive-by slaying of the Broncos’ Darrent Williams.

Never heard of a keynote address finishing at 4 AM. I think they used the term “keynote address” a bit too liberally.

It is strange that you never hear of NHL players involved in assaults, domestic abuse, drug deals, drive bys, or murders outside of night clubs at 4:00 am. Also never hear of NHL players getting drunk, getting behind the wheel, and running over innocent pedestrians, being involved in paternity suits, being jailed over concealed guns,……..
