Police Look At Surveillance In Drive-By Shooting Of Queens Mother

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A Queens woman is dead following a Sunday shooting in Ozone Park. Authorities say that Sandra Bajath, 39, was killed following a dispute at a bar.

Bajnath was on the steps by her front door with a 26-year-old man identified as a cousin early in the morning when, police say, two men opened fire on them.

Police estimating more than 20 shots were fired, killing the mother of two sons, and critically injuring the relative.

"She was just a very beautiful person. One of a kind, doting mother, funny, caring," said Annie Shiwram, Bajath's friend.

Friends say it may have started with a fight at the Food Hut & Bar just around the corner from the home.

"I woke up and all you heard was like they were shooting, like, a lot," said neighbor Victoria Tobar.

Police were eager to see what is on the video from not one but two cameras on the front of the home. The murdered woman's husband Tony, a plumber, was escorted in to get the footage for investigators and help them find his wife's killers.

"They were high school sweethearts.  I don't know how he's going to take this. I hope he has the strength to go through it," Shiwram said.

Bajnath has a 7-year-old son, Rabin, and a baby named TJ. Loved ones say she works for a phone company and was on maternity leave.

No arrests have been made.
