NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – There was no winner for Friday night’s $290 million Mega Millions jackpot, so the jackpot now goes up to at least $356 million.

The next Mega Millions drawing is on Tuesday and if someone wins, it will be one of the biggest jackpots in U.S. history. Two tickets in Georgia and New Jersey split the highest jackpot ever, worth $390 million, back on March 6, 2007.

The winning numbers from Friday’s drawing are: 6, 17, 19, 20 21 and the Mega ball 20. Three tickets in New Jersey and six in New York did match all five numbers, but not the Mega ball. They are worth $250,000 each.

Sorry folks, but I find these NINE FIGURE payouts to be utterly OBSCENE! Assuming he actually sees half of, say, a hundred million dollar payout a twenty year old would have to spend over $2,200 A DAY to have it spent by the time he’s EIGHTY!
But what’s REALLY obscene is the fact that they were ballyhooed as “funding the local schools”! And, in Oklahoma, the last I saw the PRIZE RECIPIENTS get the LION’S SHARE of the money collected – the Schools get the LEFT-OVERS (after “administrative costs”).
Besides that, every multi-mega-payout adds one or more “super CONSUMERS” and eliminates at least one “PRODUCER”.
