Giants Co-Owner John Mara Has Fun With Tebow Presser

NEW YORK (WFAN) - Every football fan knows, every New Yorker knows, and at this point it seems like every person in America knows.

Tim Tebow is now officially a New York Jet. The backup QB held his first press conference as a member of Gang Green Monday.

Such a highly publicized press conference for a backup quarterback is incredibly rare, if not unprecedented, but when it comes to Tebow, nothing seems to be particularly normal.

While the Jets may be getting the headlines this offseason, the Giants are the undisputed kings of football at the moment as the reigning Super Bowl champions. So when Giants co-owner John Mara was asked if the Big Apple is big enough for both Tebow and the Giants, he couldn't help but make light of the situation.

"I don't know," Mara told the New York Daily News.  "But the David Carr press conference will be tomorrow afternoon, too."

The Giants recently re-signed Carr to back up Super Bowl MVP Eli Manning.

Did Jets coach Rex Ryan reply harshly to Mara's joking remark? It seems like he knows better, at this point.

"When you win a Super Bowl, you can say anything you want because they are the world champions," Ryan said. "That's all fine and dandy. To the young man, he's not going out there trying to get the attention. The attention follows him."

Tebow is expected to be the back up to Mark Sanchez, who the Jets recently signed to a three-year contract extension.

Do you find Tebow's highly publicized press conference to be ridiculous, considering he's expected to back up Sanchez? Sound off with your comments below...
