Revis: Jets’ Locker Room ‘Going To Be More Of A Circus’ With Tebow

NEW YORK (WFAN) — Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis thinks backup quarterback Tim Tebow will have a “big impact” on the play of starter Mark Sanchez.

But the Tebow Effect could bring additional drama to a team in need of healing.

“It was a circus, and it’s going to be more of a circus with him in the locker room,” Revis said Wednesday on ESPN’s “SportsCenter.” “I’m not questioning his ability to play the game. He can flat-out play the game. But it is just going to bring more to the locker room every day, ‘Does Mark need to start? Does Tim need to start?

“It is going to be an ongoing thing throughout the season.”

Asked to play a game of word association, Revis replied, “Disarray right now,” when given the term “Locker room.”

Manish Mehta of the Daily News released a report in January in which several anonymous Jets ripped Sanchez for his play and “lazy” work ethic.

“I think we didn’t have enough support for Mark this past year, and we need to,” said Revis. “When you look at great teams, they stick with their quarterbacks, no matter what. This is a game where guys make mistakes sometimes. We all do. I’ve had touchdowns on me, Peyton Manning has thrown interceptions. We can go down the line.

“I just think overall, we just need to take care of Mark a little more and appreciate him and be a support system for him.”

Revis took a jab at the Broncos’ Tebow-led offense last season, before the Jets’ 17-13 loss to Denver in Week 11.

“The biggest thing for the secondary is for us not to fall asleep,” he said. “We can’t fall asleep back there in the secondary. It can get boring, especially if a team keeps on just running the ball, series after series, play after play.”

Revis, who was initially surprised by the trade, said he gained much respect for Tebow after the quarterback stunned New York in November.

Do you think Tebow’s arrival will further fracture the locker room? Sound off below…

At a time when The Jets can not afford to have trash talking Revis seems to be throwing gasoline on fires that were burning out from last season. Tim Tebow brings great possibilities to the Jets to ignite a great 2012 season. Stop throwing flowers at Mark Sanchez. he is still smiling all the way to the Bank. The NFL is about winning, not throwing flowers at a QB. GO JETS!!!

  3. mickeymike3 says:

One thing about Tebow. He gives it everything he’s got. That’s what a good QB does. That’s what it takes to win. That’s what it takes to be a winning team. That’s what it takes to be a TEAM.

Sanchez is a hot cold player, that can;t be consistant. He starts off hot and peters out after several weeks. And the rest of the Jets are clueless as well. sorts of like the Mets, but on a football field. All the players have something to say, but offer no solution. The team is nothing more than a bunch of overpaid Divas………..

  5. sarcasticallytrue says:

His record was 7 wins 4 losses 1 playoff win in his first season. Until he proves he is not a winner which he hasn’t since college please put a lid on it. Everybody that argues against him base their statements on happenstance & what if’s. Or they say well if this play didn’t happen or that play. LOL what if Clark never caught Montana’s pass .. hey what if Tyree never caught that ball .. Its a stupid argument. I’m all about the bottom line. Sanchez will play so relax .. if he wins you won’t have 2 worry. Pressure lol sounds like Orton crying on my team last year. Orton was horrible in the 4th quarter when the game was on the line .. Now we are arguing if a guy is bad most of the game but wins in dramatic fashion LOL ahhh man i can’t its ridiculous. Tebow is not on my team anymore but I wish him well whether he plays or not. He gave us Bronco fans a memorable season … & if i’m correct Revis was watching us celebrate in the regular season & in the playoffs. Who was the QB ?

The circus was already in town.

Everything that I have ever read or seen about Tebow is that he is a very nice young man – but the fact is, as a quarterback he is not that good! I think the entire thing is ridiculous and I agree with Joe Namath – I don’t think the Jets know what they are doing or at least the general manager!

why you learn how to spell his name

  9. LBUG5 says:

Gotta say, this is when we will see what a real Coach is about, Ryan has to solve this, control it and keep the team focused on winning, this is a clear sign of what a team does to win, whatever it takes, will it be difficult? I’m sure it will, but if it works and we win, it really doesn’t matter.

Revis has it exactly right: it’s a circus and the Jets are a bunch of clowns.

There certainly are plenty of clowns.
