Police: Brooklyn Mother Charged In Connection With Infant’s Death

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Police say they have charged the mother of an 11-month-old Brooklyn boy who drowned in a bathtub with endangering the welfare of a child.

Police say 24-year-old Angelica Huertas was charged Tuesday.

Authorities say 11-month-old Elijah Pardella was found unconscious just after 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the family’s Pennsylvania Avenue apartment. He was pronounced dead at Brookdale Hospital.

Police say Elijah and his 3-year-old sister were left alone in the bathtub for several minutes with the drain unplugged, but the water still running.

The investigation is still ongoing.

Women’s rights organizations will band together to propose that this woman suffered from some kind of fictitious disease. I speculate that this mother will get off with no jail time.
