Several Hurt After Deck Collapses At New Jersey Home

WESTWOOD, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- Six people were injured Sunday after a second-floor deck collapsed at a home in New Jersey, officials said.

The incident happened around 4 p.m. at a home on the corner of Emerson Road and Palisade Avenue in Westwood as a family gathered for Easter dinner.

A family member who arrived minutes after the deck gave way says it could have been a lot worse.

"I'm just glad that they ate Easter dinner inside at the dining table instead of bringing it outside under the deck, which sometimes we do here, that would've probably been fatal," the homeowner's son, Anthony Foss, said.

Officials said one person suffered a broken ankle but most of the injuries were bumps and bruises.
