Focused Rangers Sign Off Twitter For NHL Playoffs

NEW YORK (WFAN) -- The Rangers are taking John Tortorella's no-nonsense approach to a whole new level.

On Tuesday, Rangers players started signing off Twitter one by one. The sudden silence continued through Wednesday as the Blueshirts vowed to focus solely on their quest for the Stanley Cup.

"Hey guys!" tweeted goaltender Henrik Lundqvist. "No twitter during playoffs. ... Thanks for all the support! You guys are great!"

Players were mum on where the directive came from, and Tortorella laughed when asked if it was ordered by the team.

"Gonna take a break from Tweeting during playoffs," wrote Brad Richards. "Hopefully it will be a long break! Can't wit to start!"

Other noteworthy tweets included:

Marian Gaborik: "Twitter off for playoffs! Wish us luck. Ttyl #therealseasonbegins"

Brandon Dubinsky: "Alright signing off of twitter for the Playoffs. Thanks for all your support this season.I hope the next tweet will be holding the Cup!"

Michael Del Zotto: "Focussing on playoffs and our team goals. Taking a twitter break. Always appreciate the support from blueshirt fans! #therightway"

The top-seeded Blueshirts will face off Thursday for Game 1 of the opening round against the pesky Ottawa Senators.

Is Twitter silence the way to go, or should the Rangers just stick to the tried-and-true playoff beard? Sound off below!
