Husband, 75, Arrested After Wife Found Shot Dead In Brooklyn Home

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of an elderly woman in Brooklyn on Wednesday afternoon.

Authorities arrested the 75-year-old husband of 71-year-old victim Angela DeVito, CBS 2’s Derricke Dennis reported.

Police said DeVito was shot multiple times in the torso at the couple’s home in Sea Gate and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident happened inside a single-family home within the confines of a secured and private residential community on Neptune Avenue.

So far, police have not been able to identify a motive and neighbors said they were shocked at what happened.

“We have 24-hour security, private security. They do a good job, but stuff happens you know. I feel for the person, but I didn’t hear nothing. I live right around the corner,” neighbor Peter Inesti said.

The investigation is ongoing.
