“I just can’t thank God enough for giving us a second chance at life together,” Loor’s wife, Dina — who is pregnant with their second child — said.
Doctors said the knife penetrated his temple and went through his skull and into his brain, but narrowly missed vital areas and a main artery.
Loor, who is also a trained EMT, was able to pull the knife out of his head before collapsing on the sidewalk.
The 28-year-old cop underwent surgery to remove a blood clot.
The suspect, 26-year-old Terrence Hale, was arrested and charged with attempted aggravated murder, assault and criminal possession of a weapon.

Doctors said Loor will have to undergo significant physical and occupational therapy, but today the officer was just looking forward to going home and celebrating his daughter’s fifth birthday.
“We’ll just go home and be together,” Loor said.
