NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) — Superhero fans got their superhero fix Thursday night at the midnight showing of “The Avengers.”
Fans lined up for hours at the Lincoln Square AMC for a chance to see Marvel’s newest movie.
1010 WINS’ Eileen Lehpamer reports
Directed by Joss Whedon, “The Avengers” unleashes Marvel Studio’s pantheon of superheros to save the world in 3-D and IMAX. The PG-13 film, which has already passed the $280 million mark overseas, stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner and Mark Ruffalo.
One of first movie goers on line for the midnight showing was a woman dressed as Thor.
“It’s really impressive that you can get these big, big stars all together,” she told 1010 WINS’ Eileen Lehpamer. “It’s so great and gratifying to be able to sit at the end and be excited for the next thing.”
Hollywood predicts “The Avengers” could set a U.S. box office record for an opening weekend.
