Mets' Ruben Tejada Placed On 15-Day DL
NEW YORK (WFAN) -- The Mets will need to field a stand-in for Jose Reyes' full-time replacement.
Ruben Tejada, who took over for Reyes at shortstop after the All-Star signed with Miami, has been placed on the 15-day disabled list.
Tejada left New York's 3-1 win over Arizona on Sunday with a strained right quadriceps.
A team source told the New York Post that Tejada's MRI results were "not good." The 22-year-old was injured while beating out a bunt single in the bottom of the fourth inning, which resulted in a nasty spill over the bag at first.
Justin Turner replaced Tejada at shortstop Sunday, and Mets manager Terry Collins said the infielder could fill in for a time at the position. The Mets recalled Jordany Valdespin from Buffalo.
Tejada is batting .305 with 10 doubles and eight RBIs in his first year as a full-time starter.
