Deliberations To Continue Friday In Espada Corruption Trial
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Jurors ended a 9th day of deliberations in the trial of former New York State Sen. Pedro Espada.
Espada is accused of embezzling more than $500,000 from the Soundview Health Clinic in the Bronx, which Espada founded.
The latest note sent by the panel Thursday asked the judge if it agrees on a verdict for one defendant but can't agree on the other, is it a valid verdict on that count. The judge told the jurors that a partial verdict would be acceptable.
Last week, six of the 12 jurors sent a note to the judge saying one of the jurors decided that he or she would not deliberate.
Jurors asked for dozens of exhibits on Thursday. Deliberations will resume Friday morning.
