Officers arrived at the scene and found a Toyota Corolla submerged in the water.

Anne Murray, 87, was not breathing when she was pulled from the vehicle, Lt. Jack Fitzpatrick told 1010 WINS.

Murray was transported to St. Charles Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

It is not clear how long the car had been submerged.

Authorities are trying to determine if it was a medical emergency or an accident that caused Murray to drive her car into the water, WCBS 880's Sophia Hall reports.

The investigation is ongoing.
