NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Con Edison says it can help you save a little cash if you help save some energy.

The utility company said it would give customers a $25 rebate if they purchased an ENERGY STAR® model room air conditioner, which are optimized for energy efficiency.

“This rebate program for ENERGY STAR room air conditioners is good for customers because they get some money back. It’s good for the environment because ENERGY STAR saves on electricity. The less electricity that New Yorkers use, the less that is in the pipes and wires on the hottest summer days,” Con Ed spokesman Chris Olert told 1010 WINS.

Customers must purchase the room air conditioners between May 15 and August 22 in order to qualify.  Customers can receive up to two rebates.

Individuals must complete rebate forms and submit them by August 31.
