Two People Injured In NJ Boating Accident

AVON, NJ (AP)-- State police say two people were hurt when their boat struck a jetty in waters off central New Jersey.

Trooper Christopher Kay says the two injured people, whose names were not disclosed, were in a 20-foot center console boat that struck the north side of the Shark River inlet jetty in Avon around 12:45 a.m. Saturday.

The pair were taken to a hospital for treatment of undisclosed injuries and released later Saturday morning. Kay says they were the only people aboard the vessel at the time of the crash.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation by the state police's marine bureau.
