Christine Quinn, Cast Of 'Wicked' Marches In Queens Pride Parade

NEW YORK, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) - The Queens Pride Parade & Multicultural Festival took place on 37th Street in Jackson Heights on Sunday.

New York City Council Speaker and newlywed Christine Quinn marched in the parade, as did the cast of the hit Broadway show "Wicked."

This parade was founded in 1992 in response to the bias-based killing of Julio Rivera. Now in its 20th year, it also pays tribute to the legalization of same-sex marriages. Quinn married her partner, Kim Catullo, last month.

"In some ways, I feel like we've accomplished what we set out to do 20 years ago," City Councilman Daniel Dromm, who founded the parade, told the New York Daily News. "Laws are changing, gay people are coming out. There ain't no stopping us now."

For those who attended today, what was the event like? How did it compare to the parades of years past? Offer your stories and comments in the section below...
