Bronx Teen Brutally Beaten For Sunglasses, Sneakers Speaks Out
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- A Bronx teenager seen on video being brutally beaten for his sneakers spoke out Thursday about the scary incident.
Three suspects targeted the 14-year-old boy while he was waiting for the elevator in his Eastchester apartment building off Boston Road on Monday, police said.
The teen suffered a concussion, facial injuries and a bloodshot eye as the suspects struck and kicked him repeatedly before taking his sneakers and sunglasses, police said. One of the suspects even took pictures of the brutal attack.
Though he said he didn't want to be identified out of fear of reprisal, the teen spoke to CBS 2's John Slattery, telling him "I'm mad" when asked how he felt about the incident.
"I don't like them. They should get beat up," the teen said, referring to the perpetrators.
That sentiment also seems to be the prevailing opinion of neighbors who live in the area.
"I think they need to get caught and get punished," Tina Gilmore said. "I really do because this kid is a good kid."
The teen also said he has no idea who the attackers -- described as being between 16 and 20 years old -- were.
